For Schools  ·  Clubs  ·  Athletic Departments

Recruiting knowledge for your athletes and families. No sales pitch in the room.

Families keep asking your department the same questions about playing in college — and most departments don't have someone who has sat on the other side of the desk. Monica Holmes has: 20+ years of NCAA coaching, including head coach at Columbia University.

What Monica Offers

Three ways to support your families.

Built to support your coaches and counselors, not replace them.

Workshop

Playing in College: How Recruiting Really Works

A focused session of about 15 minutes of content, then open Q&A. On Zoom or in person. Offered by grade band (roughly grades 7–9 and 10–12), because what families need to know changes as athletes get closer to the process. Your first session is complimentary.

Staff Q&A

A Private Conversation for Your Staff

An open Q&A for coaches, athletic directors, and college counselors: what college coaches look for, what to tell families, and when it makes sense to point them to outside help.

Evaluations

Complimentary Athlete Evaluations

A limited number of coach-level film evaluations each season for athletes with limited access to recruiting resources, nominated by your department.

What Families Walk Away With

Clear answers, straight from a coach.

Monica tells families what a college coach actually knows — not the softened version recruiting services use to keep people comfortable.

  • How recruiting works at each level: Division I, II, and III, the Ivy League, and academically selective programs.
  • What coaches evaluate — and when they start: why the process begins earlier than most families expect.
  • Academics and eligibility basics: core courses, the Ivy League's Academic Index, and why transcripts matter.
  • The questions to ask before committing: how to tell whether a program is a real fit.

NCAA rules differ by sport and division and change often. Information as of October 2026 — confirm current rules at ncaa.org.

Our Commitment to Your Department

Nothing is sold in the room.

Monica is a coach first. Workshops are free of pitches, and families who want to follow up can reach her afterward — the decision is always theirs. Your coaches stay at the center of every athlete's story.

Monica Holmes, founder of Movement Consulting

Your Presenter

Monica Holmes, former Columbia head coach.

Monica spent more than 20 years coaching NCAA volleyball, including head coaching roles at Columbia University (Division I, Ivy League) and Pratt Institute, and assistant coaching roles at the University of Illinois, Hofstra University, and the United States Merchant Marine Academy. She earned an M.A. in Biobehavioral Science from Teachers College, Columbia University.

She started Movement Consulting because the families she meets deserve the same inside knowledge that only coaches and colleges usually have. She is also a parent navigating the same world — she is in it alongside you.

Let's Talk

Bring this to your families.
